I've had some difficulty with the non-pro version of Multiplicity and City of Heroes. I use the left computer for the primary and the computer on the right side as secondary. During gameplay I will run into this problem. I move the mouse to the right screen and switch computers. Then I move back to the primary and drop both mouse and keyboard control in City or Heroes. If I alt tab out of COH I can see that I still have control of both mouse and keyboard in other programs. If I move back to the secondary I have control over both on the secondary but short of unloading Multiplicity and COH on the primary and restarting both I haven't been able to find a solution. My Thanks, C

I just purchased multiplicity pro to use with EQ2.

I have eq2 running in windowed mode on each machine and have not had a problem.

However, CoH/CoV and Lineage 2 is another issue.

On the Primary (no game running on secondary) both games start out fine and load the log in screen. However, the momment I click or type CoH hangs the whole system and Lineage 2 gives me a blue screen (something about an IRQ). The games as a default load in full screen mode.

In order for them to run correctly, I have to turn off both multiplicity parts (multiplicity.exe and multiplsrv32.exe)

I've also tried running Vanguard and WoW both work fine in windowed mode. I haven't tried them in full screen.

I have a ms keyboard and logitech mouse but I haven't installed any specific drivers for them. It's what ever default driver the OS loads.

just tried maxvista software and despite not being as nice as multi it works with no crashes or problems in CoH. I dont like it as much though so hopefully they fix this to work

Yep. it's like he said. Multiplicity is much nicer set up but MaxiVista does work. I tried it with CoH/CoV and Lineage 2 both of which would crash my OS (WinXP) with Multiplicity but they work great with MaxiVista. MaxiVista also says it's Windows Vista compatible in some specific graphics mode but I haven't tested that out since i don't have Windows Vista yet.

If you receive a IRQ BSOD then you have a hardware / driver issue.

Multiplicity does not install any drivers.

Is there any movement on this issue? Its been known since 2005. Would be nice to get it fixed so I can use Multiplicity for the reason I purchased it.

I'd like to add that I have been experiencing this exact issue myself as well. I've been wrestling with it on my own for the last few weeks, not bothering to do a web search since I was confident that my issue was unique. Clearly however, it's not. I'd love to see a fix for this.

I think it has to do with maybe the length of time you spend on the secondary machine...? It never fails if I quickly go over to machine 2 and click something and then go back. But, if I spend any sort of extended period of time on the secondary monitor, it seems to occur. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with how long City of Heroes has been running. In fact, In the time it took me to read this thread and type this response, I was able to duplicate the issue. (CoH is running on my primary PC at this very moment)

The thing to keep in mind is that ONLY the game itself stops responding. I can minimize the game and the keyboard and mouse work fine on the desktop and in other programs. The game itself runs fine, too, except that you can't interact with it. After the issue occurs, if you exit Multiplicity, it doesn't fix the issue, by the way.

Since this is a commercial product that I paid for, I'd really like to see some action taken to resolve this issue. It's not like I'm running unsupported freeware like Synergy or something. (Which by the way works fine, although it doesn't switch well when a game is running fullscreen. Which reminds me, I wonder if this issue will happen if I play CoH in a window... Hmmmm.... I'll let you know.)

I think it's been mentioned in other threads that the situation is likely caused by code in the game that is blocking what it thinks is a "cheating situation" and I think is outside the scope of the Multiplicity code.

Thankfully, Stardock is trying to resolve the situation.

I'm not a coder for City of Heroes, so obviously I can't sit here and say that's accurate or not, but - That sounds like a bit of a cop out, since there are two competing products, one six months old and free, that work.

Speaking of competing products, I'm going to go and buy MaxVista and use it, instead. It's a shame that I have to, because Multiplicity is definitely the more feature rich product. Here's hoping that Stardock continues to try and resolve this rather irritating (and, apparently, long-standing) issue.

Just FYI, I didn't buy MaxVista - I got Synergy working just fine. The only feature that I don't have is the ability to copy and paste physical files back and forth, but that was easily taken care of by a shared folder. I'll continue to use Synergy until Stardock fixes this problem.

As a test, could someone try changing the following registy key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Multiplicity\Seamless\Seamless\KeyReset

Set it to 0 (it will probably not exist)

Does the problem still happen?

on Feb 18, 2007
I will try it out right now and let you know what happens.
on Feb 18, 2007
Oh - I assume you mean to change that registry key on the server machine and not the 'remote' machine, right?
on Feb 18, 2007
You were right, the registry key did not exist. I created the entry "KeyReset" as a String type entry, with a value of "0". You didn't specify if it was supposed to be a String or not, but everyhing else in the \Seamless key is, so...

Anyhow, I'll let you know what happens.
on Feb 18, 2007
Yes change that on the primary and it is a string.
on Feb 20, 2007
So far, so good. Haven't played in a few days because of a project, but I've made it about 20 minutes so far. I'll keep going and see what happens.

I am afraid that fix didn't work. I was hopeful for a while, but I've got the same symptom again. Back to Synergy again.
